Cloud Prototype B

Progress has been made!

This week I was able to add the happy Cloud image to the icon, banner end screen and start screen. Additionally, I changed the different color squares in the different cloud shapes and got the user cloud to change shape when pressing down certain keys.

I am currently still working on troubleshooting the collision script. Only one of the clouds is working and I am not sure why the others aren’t. The script looks the same but I guess I am not seeing something. Apart from that I am also working on tracking the score when the clouds did not match. The player is supposed to lose lives and the end screen is supposed to show. Another, challenge I will face is trying to create continuous clouds that are outside of the screen that show up on the screen. Additionally, I will be adding faces on each type of cloud. The original idea was to have the face change for the users cloud so as they lose lives it goes from super happy to sad. However, depending on if I have time I may just add different faces on all the clouds and go from there. The last challenge will be trying to add juiciness!  I have a few ideas. For example, all the clouds will expand and shrink a small amount to add life to them. Additionally, possibly add wind particles to give more movement to the play screen. Lastly, adding help text to the game to help the user throughout the game. As a way to remind them of the instructions.

  1. I really like the game play, it’s easy to understand while being very additive. I really like the idea which you can change form to become other shape instead of just dodging the cloud with different shape. If the collision effect and score board be more clear would be great I think. Nice work!

    1. Hi Rui! Thank you for your feedback! 🙂 I am glad you enjoyed it! I will try to edit the score board before posting it online. 🙂

  2. Hi Cynthia!
I love how simple and cute your game is! That smiling cloud makes me smile 😀
I think this was such a creative idea, I can see you definitely going further into refining your cloud images and maybe even the background. I really enjoyed playing your game with you at the exhibition event, and it proved itself a challenging game, actually, with the keys you chose and the randomly generated clouds zooming by! Tree cloud is best cloud. xD

    1. Hi Victoria! Thank you for feedback! 😀 It was definitely fun playing the game. haha I guess I under estimated the power of key placement.

  3. Yoooo Cynthia,

This game is DOOOOOPE. Right off the bat, when the music started playing on the title screen, I was like hold on, wait a second, no she didn’t haha. Great choice with going with a D&B track. That caught me by COMPLETE surprise. I really enjoyed that tune, and to play with it provided the energy I needed to keep up with the pace of the game. I think the music complemented your gameplay very well. Having to get quick with choosing which letter to press on the keyboard, while navigating the game is exciting. This game really kept me tuned in, really dope concept you created. I like the color scheme you went with as well. The sky blue with the white clouds was a perfect combination. Having to change into those shapes was really cool. I wasn’t able to beat your game, but if you didn’t have another level, it would be dope if there was a night level, where the colors switched and so did the song, even the shapes too. Great work on this game, I’m sure I will be playing this game in my future. If you keep creating games, I’d love to make music for ya, I really rock with your ideas.

    Peace,
