When a light source is directed toward the graphite cube at a vector normal to any one corner, a hexagonal shadow with 6 inch sides will be projected on the same vector. Another kind of indexical mark-making, the shadow works to mock typical figure/ground representation exercises. In this case, the graphite cube is hidden, masked from audience in order direct attention toward the site of metaphor: the object cast between light and shadow.
